Pat Halpin-Murphy 2012
In 1993, Pat Halpin-Murphy founded the Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition, the state-wide grassroots coalition serving breast cancer survivors, their friends and families, research institutions, health professionals, elected officials and others seeking support and information, where she continues to serve as President.
She earned master’s degrees from both Drexel University and the University of Pennsylvania and a bachelor’s degree from West Chester University. She had a distinguished career in state and national government, serving as an advisor to Governor Robert P. Casey, U.S. Senator Harris Wofford and as Secretary of Labor for President Bill Clinton.
She was appointed by four successive governors to the Pennsylvania Cancer Advisory Board and co-chairs the Pennsylvania Income Tax Check-Off for Breast and Cervical Cancer Research Committee. In addition to service on multiple national boards and commissions, she co-authored both editions of the book “Breast Cancer: Covered or Not? A Guide on Insurance.”
Pat Halpin-Murphy is the recipient of national, state and local awards from business, industry, government and the media.
