The Mission of Distinguished Daughters of Pennsylvania is to honor extraordinary women for their outstanding service and contributions to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Since 1949, over 550 talented, dedicated, and influential women from every part of the state have been honored for the significant, positive impact their work and service have had in improving the quality of life for all Pennsylvanians and around the world. Women leaders are honored from diverse backgrounds. DDPA have had successful careers such as architects, artists, athletes, businesses executives, civic leaders, educators, entrepreneurs, environmentalists, government officials, historic preservationists, judges, journalists, lawyers, librarians, nurses, philanthropists, physicians, poets, researchers, social activists, scientists and writers.
Distinguished Daughters of Pennsylvania has continued to celebrate its members' altruism, tireless commitment and professional excellence through 15 gubernatorial administrations and for more than seven decades. Distinguished Daughters annually celebrates and promotes each Daughter's accomplishments which reflect the richness of Pennsylvania's past and her promise for the future. Through their impressive lifetime achievement, the Daughters enhance the good name of the state that they treasure and call home.
By honoring these extraordinary women and increasing awareness of their achievements, DDPA inspires, engages, and empowers women and girls in Pennsylvania and beyond to achieve their fullest potential.
