Helen Faison 2001

A ground breaking educator in Western Pennsylvania for half a century, she is Dean and Director of the Pittsburgh Teacher's Institute at Chatham College and has been widely recognized as a distinguished teacher, mentor, humanitarian and civic leader. The first African American to serve in several key leadership positions in Pittsburgh public schools, she has served the city's colleges and universities in a variety of other capacities.
