Edith L. Shapira 2006

A psychiatrist in private practice, she galvanized relief efforts in southwestern Pennsylvania following 2005 Hurricane Katrina, coordinating public and private efforts to relocate victims of the disaster. Co-chair of the Riverlife Task Force and a trustee of the Sports and Exhibition Authority, she has facilitated cooperation and trust among diverse interests affected by redevelopment of Pittsburgh's riverfront.
