As a public health nurse, she founded the Allegheny County Center for Victims of Violent Crimes. Dedicated to public service, she was the first woman elected as Allegheny County Commissioner and served eight years as State Auditor General and eight years as State Treasurer. In addition to her distinguished leadership in many other state-wide civic organizations, she has been recognized internationally for her support of Israel.
